Re: Usborne Books

Fantastic :) What a treasure! I wish I had something like this when I was a kid. I did type in quite a few games from magazines, but I didn't have access to complete books like this.

Re: how to do software sprites for MZ-800?

I believe it uses ports to write to v-ram, in that case there will probably be many reads and writes in order to move a sprite.
I tried to find more info about the actual videomodes, but couldn't find much info...

Anyone with better knowledge about this that could write a few words?

I think you should port SymbOS to the MZ-800, Jo Even! It is a good reason to finally buy one for yourself ;)

I did the same a couple of years ago. My dad bought the extra V-RAM in '86 for the 800 we had back then. I'm pretty sure he did pay a lot more than €3.5 :D

Re: Question: how to use a mouse on MZ-800 ?

Hm... I haven't tried, but it should be possible to do. The joysticks are port $F0 and $F1, so I don't think there is any interrupts triggering on changes on these ports, which means you must poll the port. Using an Atari-mouse, up-down/down-up pulse indicates Y-movement, and left-right/right-left p...

Re: Sharpworks Fast Loader

This is really cool!
Have you tried converting a "fastloaded" program to WAV and load it using a PC and a cassette adapter like this one?

Re: Introduction

Yes, welcome to the forum! - male - Also 1974 :D - Live in the southernmost town in Norway. MZ-721 was my first computer. Got it in 85. Started programming BASIC on it. Made a few, mostly crappy, games for it. Upgraded to the insanely cool MZ-820 with QD in 1986. Loved that machine so much that I cr...
