Hi, new to this forum. I had an MZ-721 back in 1984 and of the games that I remember was awesome, was Star Avenger. I have been trying to get it to work with several emulators, but wiith no luck (Other games work). Has anybody succesfully made it run in an emulator, if so, would you care to give me some tips on the way? Thanks in advance :D !

I can try it on the emulators I have if you direct me where I can find it. Is it a PAL or NTSC game?

Ok tried Star Avenger. There was a zip with 3 files : MZF, MZT, WAV.

The MZF file (14KB) is shorter than MZT file (72KB) and was anormal because it starts with MZF1 then seems to contain a normal MZF/MZT format. The MZT file is bigger and doesn't have a header, it starts with a big chunk of 0. So both files are unusable. On the other hand, I was able to load WAV file with EmuZ-700 with no problem and launch the game (graphics not bad and scrolling quite smooth).

EDIT: the sizes I gave are the compressed ones. Nevermind, I'm trying to fix the MZF file to check whether it is working.

I updated staraven.7z by adding the corrected staraven.mzf file.

Thanks so much for the effort :-). Do you have a link to the mentioned EmuZ-700 emulator?

Pretty nice game ! Might do a video on that one. Yes, the scrolling is fairly well done.

Ahhh!!! At last I made it run, or actually you hlide, posting the correct ROM, made it run. I remember on Nationalday in Norway i 1984, I saved all my pocketmoney for the next day just to buy this game for my MZ-721. Unfortunately, the man in the store did no open his store the next day (probably hungover from Nationalday). I ended up splashing the money on something else, so I never got to buy this game. Thank you for the wonderful memories. btw I did not make it work with the emulator linked to in this thread, I used MZ-700 Win 32 Emulator by M.Franzen.
