Hi all
On my first post I have asked for help with a non working MZ-80k I have brought and I am grateful for the replys I have recieved but I have now took the board out to give it a good look over and there is quite a bit of corrosion mainly on the socketed chips.
I am going to replace the sockets of these but the ic,s are in poor condition so looking if I can get replacements firstly the cpu which is the LH0080 the only replacement I can find is a LH0080A or B would this work in the computer or not, also the other items for the board are they easy to source.
many thanks

There is no reason a LH0080A or LH0080B won't work. I even have one of MZ-700 with a CMOS Z80@20MHz running at 3.5MHz.

If not through usual sites or ebay, they should be findable at UTsource.

Hi!
I would suggest first replacing the corrosive ic sockets and then try to clean the pins of the IC.
I suspect your problems maybe solved with these two problems in mind.
Carefully desolder IC socket and replace with new ones. aAlso ,could you provide us of a photo of the corrosive chips(s)?

I second dat-alex. And exposing your issues with some pictures is better to get better answers

There might be few ways of cleaning this kind of corrosion. Bath in ascetic acid (sometimes helps), and scrubbing it with some kind of abrasive material... fiber glass or brass wire pen. You might easily bend or break those pins though, especially those heavy corroded, so watch out.
As others already said before, replacing sockets.. and checking for corroded tracks.
Fortunately most of those chips are still available. Though many as new old stock/used chips with chance of fakes.

On the Roms I see that the CG-rom is a HN462716G epprom but what is the M-rom thinking about getting a epprom burner if I need to replace these but are there any images for these roms out there or does anyone have them.

M-ROM is monitor rom 4KB prom that looks like
2332. Finding pin compatible (e)eprom replacement for it might be a bit tricky.. adapter might be needed
